Gold Diggers is a happening, a participatory game. Participants explore Livorno’s Fortezza Vecchia at sunset. They remain still, observing the sun until it vanishes from their point of view, then move to a new vantage point to continue contemplating it. Created in a site-specific art residency and contingent on weather conditions, the action unfolded in two versions. The first evening featured the artist duo amidst an epic sky. The second evening, participants followed the artists' prescribed path and rules, generating a spontaneous choreography while gazing at the sun until its disappearance on the horizon. Gold diggers happened on the occasion of the performance art event IMPORT/EXPORT Livorno, at the old port of Livorno, on the 22nd and 23rd of September September 2023, for the full extension of the sunset.
