Darius Bogdanowicz

Liège, 1993

Is an author and performance artist. He writes fiction anchored to reality, but open to dreams. If the novel is the axis and main engine of his work, the long research that accompanies his writing process leads him to be interested in various contexts and current issues, creating site-specific performance works and performative readings along the way. After a period of writing focused on the politics of travel, nomadism and migration, whose works include the award-winning novel Festival, the author now focuses on exploring alternatives to neoliberalism. Halfway between science fiction and magical realism, his new fictions address the end of an era, seeking to deflate or even burst the bubble of late-capitalism through speculative narrative. He is currently working on the novel Calima and the short story collection Siete soluciones fáciles y fabulosas para acabar con el capitalismo (Seven easy and fabulous solutions to end capitalism). His first novel, Festival, was awarded the literary award Certamen Literario Fundación Antonio Gala and published in Spain in 2023 at Editorial Berenice. He has been artist in residence at the Fabra i Coats (Barcelona) and the Fundación Antonio Gala (Córdoba). As a performer, he has performed for prominent figures such as Marina Abramović (2017-2020), Romeo Castelucci (2022) or La Fura del Baus (2023), among others. He has a degree in Art and Design from the Escola Massana (UAB, Barcelona) and a Master in Speculative Narrative from the École de Recherche Graphique (ULB, Brussels). He currently lives in Brussels, from where he writes, co-organizes the performance event IMPORT/EXPORT and travels constantly, possessed by a nomadic instinct.
